According to Daniels health assessment, he is at high risk of developing diabetes as both his mother and father have this disease. Moreover, Daniels diet is unhealthy because it contains high amounts of saturated fats and is low in fiber. He also smokes and drinks alcohol occasionally that poses an additional threat to his health. Some of the symptoms of diabetes are extreme hunger, frequent urination, and unexplained weight loss. The effects of this disease on Daniels health status would be damage to the large and small blood vessels of the heart and other essential organs, poor eyesight, and damage to nerves.

To prevent the risk of developing diabetes, the diet of the patient should include healthy fats, fruits and vegetables, high-fiber bread and cereals, and seafood. Among exercises, brisk walking can be recommended to reduce the risk of the disease. Patients should consult a therapist and attend overall screenings regularly. Non-glucose-lowering medications can prevent diabetes and should be included in the health plan. Monitoring blood glucose levels should be part of the diagnostic testing. Early diagnosis is crucial as it helps manage an individuals health by selecting medications and relieving the symptoms. According to Tran (2018), the drug that has recently received approval is Empagliflozin that prevents the occurrence of cardiovascular death and hospitalization for heart failure.
