Are Rich Countries Morally Obligated to Assist Poor Countries?

The problem of unequal distribution of benefits is relevant not only for one single country but also for comparing the levels of economic development of different states. While some powers are becoming more affluent and more influential in the world arena, the governments of countries with weaker economies are forced to build their policies based on the rich. If this trend continues, the gap between wealthy and developing countries will enlarge, which will lead to interethnic conflicts. States with strong economies should be morally obligated to assist emerging countries in ensuring the entire world communitys development and prosperity.

There are several reasons why wealthier countries should be held accountable and provide support to poorer nations. During the 19-20 centuries, the colonial policy was actively cultivated globally: some lands were economically subordinate to others, which slowed their progress. From a historical point of view, rich countries should assist developing countries since the latters resources have become one reason for rich countries economic growth (Rostow, 2019). A rise in the difference between rich and poor states will make migration flows more active, which is an uncontrolled volume that will also entail adverse consequences. The number of conflicts on a national and ethnic basis will grow. Third, the underdeveloped economies are a favorable field for investment which will improve living standards across the planet and bring significant dividends. Thus, assisting emerging countries is a moral obligation and a logically correct way to improve the world situation for wealthier states in terms of global upgrowth.

Wealthy countries should be morally obligated to assist poorer ones for various reasons for such actions: economic, political, and socio-cultural. Efforts must be made to preserve historical justice, prevent conflicts on a national and cultural basis, and for mutual financial benefit. If implemented, the planet can become an even more favorable place for life, as people in different countries worldwide will have similar living conditions.
