John Deere Company in View of Globalization

John Deere is one of the most successful agricultural machinery companies in the world today. In 1963, the company became the worlds largest manufacturer and supplier of agricultural and industrial equipment (Korinek and Stiglitz, 2021). Globalization has significantly affected the company both negatively and positively. One of the significant adverse impacts of globalization is the increased prices due to more exposure to inflation which involves higher risks (Glushkova, Lomakina and Sakulyeva, 2019). Discussing the positive aspects of globalization, the companys technological advancement should be mentioned (Bourne, 2018). After gaining international status, the company acquired money on new developments such as introducing machine learning and artificial intelligence in production (Bourne, 2018). Thanks to innovative technologies and capital accumulations approach, the company managed to make the production process more labor-saving. This contributed to the advancement of John Deere in the agricultural sphere all over the world.

Considering the leadership approach that helped the company transfer its products to the global market, the combination of approaches should be mentioned (Marr, 2018). Transformational and cross-cultural leadership were used to manage people of different cultures and values (Bonsu, 2018). The President of Agricultural Solutions emphasized that the main aim of the CEO was to attract highly talented employees from all over the world (Bourne, 2018). Moreover, the value-based leadership approach can also be noticed in the companys globalization process. The leaders spread the core values within the stakeholder and global agricultural community (Leadership with purpose, n.d). Through focusing on the main values, the companys leaders managed to overcome the inflation during the farm crisis and worldwide expansion (Leadership with purpose, n.d). Therefore, determining values and leadership approaches were the key elements to the successful globalization of the company.
