Health Science: Improving the Quality of Care

A health science major learns to improve the lives of the patients, disease prevention, and health care and promotion. Students in this major have to be prepared to work in different health-related settings and careers. After graduation, many of them dedicate their lives to improving the health of the whole community and their patients. In this major, many health disciplines are combined into one. For example, students have social, behavioral, and natural sciences, molecular biology, anatomy, physiology, genetics, psychology, sociology, economics, courses in epidemiology, global health, leadership, ethics, and management. To earn the best salary in this field, people need to develop effective communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and leadership techniques that are necessary to manage a team of health professionals and to interact with patients. Moreover, compassionate and ethical care and comprehensive skills and knowledge are crucial for improving the quality of care and health outcomes and becoming the best specialist. Besides, since socioeconomic status depends on the health problems in the country, and health sciences purpose is to reduce them, this field may have a positive impact on the countrys future.

Effectiveness of Various Innovative Learning Methods in Health Science Classrooms: A Meta-Analysis

The crucial requirements of healthcare professionals like nurses and physicians include being able to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and think critically. Precisely these qualities help healthcare workers to deliver quality services efficiently to their patients. One may admit that various studying techniques play an essential role in achieving those requirements. In their article, Kalaian and Kasim (2017) discuss the effectiveness of different innovative small-group learning methods. The authors proved that the various forms of innovative and reform-based small-group learning interventions appeared to be significantly more effective for students in higher levels of college classes (Kalaian & Kasim, 2017, p. 1151). This article can guide health science and nursing educators in identifying how different innovative small-group teaching methods may be more effective than the traditional lecture-based learning instructions.

Setting the Agenda for a New Discipline: Population Health Science

For more than a century, healthcare providers have been able to win severe victories for public health. Still, people are increasingly faced with the problem of acute and chronic diseases, such as mental health, addiction, and obesity, for which there are no clear answers. The authors of this article insist on the necessity of a new discipline that can study these issues and describe one of such studies  population health science (Keyes & Galea, 2016). This discipline would analyze the conditions and circumstances of health distributions across and within populations and the mechanisms through which these conditions manifest as the individuals health.

Developing Training to Prepare Human Health Science Students to Face Biological Incidents

It is evident that medical and biomedical scientists are of vital importance in collaborative response efforts aimed at reducing the spread of biological jeopardy and protecting public health. According to Peña-Fernández, Zinsky, Choi, and Broadbent (2017), in biomedical and medical science programs, there is a lack of appropriate training in responding to biological incidents. The authors suggested some improvements and proved that learning through peer-to-peer interaction has shown to improve student engagement and improve active learning (Peña-Fernández et al., 2017, p. 4708). This article demonstrates the importance of teaching primary competencies necessary to protect human health in the circumstances of the biological incident.

Conclusion

To draw a conclusion, I want to say that I chose these three articles because they seemed the most interesting among others written on this topic. All of them are aimed at discovering something new in the field of health science and suggesting innovative methods and ways. Some people may say that this field is rather developed and successful, and there is no need to create anything new. However, the world is changing rapidly, and people have to adapt to it constantly in order to survive.
