Essay on My Favourite Song

Queen is a famous rock band today along with, The Creedence Clearwater Revival. I was introduced to Queen and The Creedence because my father listens to them. My favorite song from Queen growing up was I Want to Break Free and my favorite song from The Creedence was Cotton Fields. Queen and The Creedence appear different but are actually similar considering their rise to fame, songs, and achievements. In addition, Queen was formed in 1970, following the demise of the band Smile, Queen originally consisted of vocalist Freddie Mercury, guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor before being joined by bassist John Deacon (‘Queen’)They got their name Queen from Freddie Mercury and logo inspired by the members zodiac signs(‘Queen’)Queen made four songs called Liar, Keep Yourself Alive, The Night Comes Down, and Jesus (‘Queen, history, and discography 1968 – Present day – Totally timelines) However, none of the companies were interested in signing with the band (‘Queen, history, and discography 1968 – Present day – Totally timelines’) But, in 1973, they signed with Elektra Records(‘Queen’)Nevertheless, Queen released their first album but was not very successful. In 1974, they released Queen II, which ranked number 5 on the English list (‘Queen’) Queens third album Sheer Heart Attack, made it to the American lists and allowed them to tour Europe, The United States, and Japan (‘Queen’)

Some of my favorite songs from Queen are Another One Bites the Dust, I Want to Break Free, Radio Ga Ga, and We Will Rock You. Furthermore, Queen has won several awards and has many nominations. Queen won 3 Grammy and had 7 nominations. They won 3 British awards and had 9 nominations. They also won 1 American Music Award.

Moreover, The Creedence is another well-known rock band. The Creedence was named Blue Velvets and The Golliwogs before being named The Creedence Clearwater Revival. The members were John Fogerty, Stu Cook, and Douglas Clifford who met in Portola Junior High School(‘Creedence Clearwater Revival’) Tom who is Fogertys brother joined the band and in 1964 they signed with Fantasy Records(‘Creedence Clearwater Revival’) Which was an independent Jazz label in San Francisco(‘Creedence Clearwater Revival’) In 1968, The Creedence Clearwater Revival became the official name for the band and it came from a television commercial, the members’ commitment in the band, and Fogertys friend(‘Creedence Clearwater Revival’) Along with their rise to fame was their songs.

Some of my favorite songs are Bad Moon Rising, Down On the Corner, Have You Ever Seen the Rain, and Proud Mary. Although, despite the band being from San Francisco, they sang about the bayous, the Mississippi River, Catfish, and other elements of Southern Iconography (‘CREEDENCE CLEAR WATER(CCR): Biography’)The band’s first album was released in 1968. A cover of Suzie Q became their first hit single (‘CREEDENCE CLEAR WATER(CCR): Biography’)By 1969, Proud Mary was the second hit single along with Bad Moon Rising, Green River, Down On the Corner, Travelin Band, and more(‘CREEDENCE CLEAR WATER(CCR): Biography’)Therefore, the band sold 26 million albums in the US alone. The rolling stones ranked them as 82 for being one of the 100 greatest artists of all time. (‘CREEDENCE CLEAR WATER(CCR) : Biography’)However, The Creedence was nominated for 2 Grammys and won both. They also won 2 awards from the NME Awards. Sadly, the band disbanded in 1972 even after major successes. In Conclusion, Queen and The Creedence appear different but are actually similar considering their rise to fame, songs, and achievements. Both are similar as they were already in bands prior to signing to record labels. They are both very popular amongst the old and new generations. And I would recommend listening to both if you like a rock.
